Choose Threaded Pine for your alterations and know you'll get commitment to a great fit and garments that retain their original look and charm, both inside and out. All fittings and alterations are done by owner Sandy Quinn, a tailor with over 13 years of experience sewing for television and film in New York City. She has altered designer labels for celebrity clients, men and women's vintage from the 1930s to the 1980s, as well as wedding dresses and suits. Sandy has a light hand with delicate pieces and the technical experience to tailor complex garments, ensuring a perfect fit and a garment you feel comfortable in.

Bridal

In your first fitting at our Portland studio, Sandy will meet with you, talk about your ideal fit, and conduct the first fitting (this includes fitting all appropriate undergarments). The second fitting will have you return to try on your dress with shoes to check the first round of alterations and mark a hem. The third fitting is a check fit with all pieces to make sure everything is perfect for your walk down the aisle. This process takes at least a month. Please reach out in advance to get on our schedule, we only take a select number of brides each month. All bridal alterations are billed hourly.

Custom Garments

Threaded Pine specializes in custom garments, as well as the ability to recreate cherished pieces from the original sample. For more details and samples of past projects please see our "Custom Garments" page.

Tailoring/Alterations

Our goal is to provide personalized service and attention to detail on every project. From hollywood to hand stitched hems, we are comfortable with all types of garments and familiar with their unique construction needs.

We are happy to book appointments for general alterations at our Portland studio. Please use the form below to reach out and schedule your fitting, sharing as many details as possible. Our fee structure for alterations is based on an estimate Sandy will provide in your fitting. Typical turn around is about a week, but we can also work with tighter timelines.

A Tailor who Travels

Can't make it to Portland or you prefer fittings in the comfort of your own space? After years of making house calls for exclusive clients in NYC, we are excited to offer this service to Southern Maine and the greater Boston metro area.
